An AC-DC LED Integrated Streetlight Driver with Power Factor Correction and Soft-Switching Functions

The use of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) in street lighting applications has been greatly welcomed with the current trends energy saving, environmental protection, carbon reduction, and sustainable development. This paper presents a novel AC-DC LED integrated streetlight driver that combines an interleaved buck converter coupled inductor half-bridge series resonant full-bridge rectifier into single-stage power conversion topology factor correction (PFC) soft switching capabilities. PFC is achieved by designing coupling sub-circuit discontinuous conduction mode. In addition, tank designed to be similar inductive load, thus giving switch zero-voltage (ZVS) function, decreasing losses increasing overall efficiency proposed circuit. A prototype circuit rating 165 W (235 V/0.7 A) 110 V input utility voltage developed tested. According measurement results, greater than 0.98, total harmonic distortion coefficient less 3%, 89% were obtained driver. Therefore, experimental results are satisfactory demonstrate functionality
